Ornament -making Workshop: 4 pm – 5pm at the Upper Catskill Community Council on the Arts, 11 Ford Ave. Ages 6 – 12. Make one ornament to hang on the community tree and one to take home! Pre-registration required. Call 432-0679.

Free Children’s movie at Oneonta Theater: sponsored by the Oneonta Dance Center: “Shrek” – 9:00 am. People are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the movies for Oneonta Theater’s food drive. Info at 432-2820.

Downtown Oneonta’s Santa Parade: 11:00 am – Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on a horse-drawn wagon with candy, floats, fire truck a juggler, and more!! Parade route: Down Elm St. along Main St. down Chestnut Ext. left on Market St. up South Main, up Elm St.


Storytime with Mrs. Santa Claus: 12 noon to 1:30 pm, following the Oneonta Christmas Parade

At the Greater Oneonta Historical Society, 183 Main Street.

 

Monday, November 26th and Tuesday, November 27th

Gingerbread House Contest entry drop-offs at Key Bank on Main St. From 5pm - 8pm on the 26th and from 10 am – 1 pm on the 27th. Gingerbread houses will be displayed in merchants windows throughout the holiday season. For more information contact 607.434.6755

 

Nov. 22 – Dec. 25:

Private Drawers Annual Toy Drive: for the OFO Violence Intervention Program. For the fifth year, Private Drawers gives 10% off to any customer who donates a toy.The toys need to be unwrapped, for boys or girls, 6 months to 14 years old. The toys are displayed under the tree in the Private Drawers window, until Santa takes them to OFO.For two years in a row, Private Drawers collected over 250 toys for disadvantaged area children.

 

Saturday, November 24th

Lunch with Santa at Athens Famous Gyros: 12 noon – 1pm.

 

Thursday, November 29th

Storytime with Mrs. Claus: 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, before and after the Oneonta Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, at the Greater Oneonta Historical Society, 183 Main Street.

Tree Lighting Ceremony: Magical night of candlelight, music and gingerbread. Street closed 5-8 pm. Tree lighting at 6 pm. Santa, music, refreshments, live reindeer, horse-drawn wagon rides. Gingerbread Display opens! Streets closed from Ford Ave. – Chestnut St.

 

Friday, November 30th

Soccer Hall of Fame Sneak Peek Party – 7:00 pm. An evening of music, food and drinks, and tree displays. Cast your vote for 2007’s Most Popular Tree! The Donna Decker School of Dance will be performing scenes from Nutcracker at 7:30 pm.

 

Saturday, December 1st

Free Children’s movie at Oneonta Theater: “Charlotte’s Web” – 10:00 am. Starring Dakota Fanning. People are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the movies for Oneonta Theater’s food drive. Info at 432-2820.

Oneonta Dance Center’s "Winter Wonderland" Show: Time and place TBA. (Contact Oneonta Dance Center – 431-9292 – www.oneontadancecenter.com

Lunch with Santa at Mama Nina’s – 12:00 – 1:00 pm. A visit with Santa and free treats for the kids!


Santa visits Sego Café 2 pm – 4 pm. Free hot chocolate and cookies. Free photos with Santa!!!

Making Merry at Foothills Performing Arts: Theater, Crafts, and Games for Kids – 1-4 pm

Children will join with educators on site while parents shop and dine at downtown establishments

Soccer Hall Of Fame’s Festival of Trees: Santa-in-residence and Hall of Fame Director Jack Huckel will be present to visit with children at 9:00 am. From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm the Hall of Fame will be opened to the public, admission free with a nonperishable food item, to view the spectacularly adorned trees.

Thursday, December 6th

The Upper Catskill Council of the Arts: "A Little Something" Holiday Sale at the Fine Craft Gallery. A retail sale of one-of-a-kind treasures. Reception at the Wilber Mansion, 11 Ford Ave. 6-9 pm. Exhibition runs Dec. 6 – Dec. 21

Tom Chapin Concert at Soccer Hall of Fame: 7 pm.

Concert at Foothills Performing Arts Cetner – 7:30 pm “Dreaming of Christmas” A Holiday concert for the whole family performed by the Wonderland Quartert (Members of the Catskill Symphony Orchestra) - flute, oboe, harp, cello.

Friday December 21st

Foothills Performing Arts Center presents: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. 7:00 pm. A play for the whole family, featuring the Footlights Kids.

Saturday December 22 & Sunday December 23.

Foothills Performing Arts Center presents: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. 1 pm & 3pm both days. A play for the whole family, featuring the Footlights Kids.
